revlon-heavy haul

I picked up lots of drugstore goodies during an adventure to Washington state. I ended up buying a lot of Revlon products: two Luxurious shadows (Vintage Lace matte and Peacock Lustre Satin, ColorStay Brow Enhancer, lash adhesive, and a quad in Silver Fox. On the skin care side, I bought Garnier Moisture Rescue lotion and gel-cream, as well as the tinted anti-dark-circle roller. Everything else: Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk, a WnW palette in Petal Pusher, and Burt’s Bees cuticle cream. I went back and got the China Glaze Sea Spray polish I really regretted not buying last time—look forward to seeing it tomorrow in a nail post!

Also, if you see a product here that you’d really like to read about, please let me know and I will try to put it on the top of my list :>

They may look stern but these turtle Pillow Pets I bought during the trip are ultra cuddly. They were so adorable I couldn’t not get them. One is a house-warming gift for my brother haha. It can lie flat to be used as a pillow and has a velcro strap underneath to pull the sides together and make it stand up like a normal stuffed animal (it is still super comfy as a pillow like this). If the two look different, it’s because they are. We bought them at two different Wal-marts and were shocked when we put them side-by-side. The colours as well as the shape of the head is different; my brother’s is also significantly fluffier/fatter.

super awesome gosh sale goodies

In what I assume is a clearout of products and shades that are discontinued (or about to be), I spied a crapton of GOSH products with $0.99 and $1.99 stickers at the Shoppers near my work. I’m a fan of GOSH for its lovely eyeliners and especially the X-Ceptional Wear foundation so I was immediately in :O!!! mode and got to work picking through everything.

When things that you know to be in the $10-25 range are $1-2, it’s really hard to stay focused and not just buy everything in sight but I think I came out okay. I resisted the purdy neutrals palettes (because I have so many) and opted for a Quattro Eye Shadow palette in Tropical Beach with a teal, two warm greens, and a buttery yellow. Since I really like my Quo Jumbo Lip Gloss Pencil, I got GOSH’s version in Gypsy Red. And since I’m starting to get into lipsticks, I added a Pearl Shine lipstick in Daiquiri to my growing collection. Hiding in the back underneath everything is a sleek jar of Loose Powder in Translucent.

I think I’m going to go back tomorrow to pick up a Creamy Compact foundation. I couldn’t find any reviews online, but it’s only $1.99 so I’ll live if it doesn’t work out.

Lurk your nearby Shoppers Drug Marts for GOSH products on clearance! They are mostly unopened and unused, but be careful because I took a peek at some of the lipsticks that were sealed with scotch tape to check out the colour (relax, I re-sealed it) and some of them didn’t twist up.

Happy hunting!

roadtrip drugstore haul

As mentioned in yesterday’s fotd, I took a roadtrip over the border into Washington in search of American makeup goodies and deals. In Canada I rarely come across buy one get one sales, but there were tons at Walgreens. After looking at everything I picked up, I realized I bought a lot of Wet n Wild. It’s one of those brands that is ridiculously cheap and but isn’t cheap quality. There are lots of WnW products that I haven’t seen in Canada.

The spoils of war:

From top, left to right: Tokidoki Pittura Brush Set, Wet n Wild Mega Liner liquid liner in 863 Turquoise, Yes To Carrots C Me Blush Lip Tint in Coral Sunshine, Wet n Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Powder in Strike-A-Pose-Rose, Wet n Wild Ultimate Sheer Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 in 182 Natural, Hard Candy Moon Glow, Sally Hansen by Carmindy Natural Powder Blush in Cherub, NYC Extreme Lip Glider gloss in 525U Big Apple Red, Wet n Wild ColorIcon eyeshadow palette in 248 Lust, Victoria’s Secret Silky Eye Shadow in Rich

haul happiness

Shoppers Drug Mart was having a 40% off sale on Quo brushes and Physicians Formula. I love the Physicians Formula Multi-Colored Face Powder and Shimmer Strips Bronzer I bought recently, so I was super excited about picking up more PF.

I know this seems like a really dinky haul by most standards, but it’s big-ish for me. I have this ridiculous thing where somehow it seems worse to spend $40 in one go than to spend $10 on four separate occasions, so I usually buy my makeup item by item.

Physicians Formula Pop! Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner for green eyes, Quo Eye Smudger brush, Quo Crease Shadow brush, Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in Just So, Hersheys Cookies & Cream, Arizona green tea. The beauty advisor also threw in samples for Lise Watier Neiges eau de toilette, Smashbox Photo Finish Light foundation primer, and Burberry Sport eau de toilette.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Eye Enhancing mascara comes with a full mail-in rebate. I was on the fence, but after checking out the good reviews (the mascara itself being good, rather than its eye-enhancing abilities) I might have to take up Physicians Formula’s offer. Also considering picking up the Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer. I’m on a PF obsession!

Also ran by Save On Foods for NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Horseradish and Round lipstick in Topaz. Of all places, the last place I expected to find NYX was at Save On Foods (with testers!) In Vancouver, I haven’t seen it in Shoppers, London Drugs, or any other of my normal drugstore go-tos. It’s funny standing in checkout holding my eyeshadow pencil and lipstick because I don’t want to put it on the conveyor belt.

In my last FOTD I mentioned going to an Olympic merchandise sale (it’s at 3700 East Hastings, on the corner of Hastings and Boundary btw), so I thought I’d squeeze into this post what I picked up.

Super cute striped Billabong hoodie: it has very long sleeves which is perfect for long-armed freaks like me.

Quatchi and Mukmuk keychain plushies, Mukmuk luggage tag: they’re so cute but you really have to sort through the plushies because not all of them are well-made. If you aren’t familiar with them, they are part of the Vancouver Olympics mascot team and inspired by West Coast native legends (Quatchi is a sasquatch, Mukmuk is a marmot—a real animal—and kind of a “mascot sidekick” because he doesn’t appear on all the merchandise like the others). Mukmuk is Andy’s favourite because it’s fat and “shaped like a potato.”

south-of-the-border drugstore haul!

Check out this delicious haul my darling Jenelle brought back from the States! I briefly considered never buying drugstore makeup in Canada again, because everything was apparently ridiculously cheap and our neighbours have such awesome sales.

Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 70 with Helioplex (one of the best sunblocks ever!), Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama eyeliner in Eggplant, Maybelline Eye Studio Color Plush quads in Taupe Temptress and Mad For Mauve, L’Oreal HiP Jelly Balm in Succulent, eos lip balm in Honeysuckle Honeydew

We are totally soulmates; I cant believe that even though I hadn’t asked for anything, 4 out of these 6 items are ones that I was really coveting (2 in exactly the colour I wanted!). I was waiting for a big Shoppers sale to pick up Mad for Mauve and Eggplant, and I was so happy in the pants for the Jelly Balm because I haven’t seen them in Canada.

I think my exact text when she told me she picked up the gel eyeliner was, “I fucking love you forever. Seriously.” Buying this girl dinner next time we go out, for sure <3
