Orly Artificial Sweetener • FingerPaints Hue Left A Message?
I’ve been wanting to do a glitter gradient ever since I saw this one in grey!
Artificial Sweetener is from Orly’s new-ish Cool Romance spring collection. From the colour in the bottle, I expected a soft mauve-y pink, but true to its name, it is a sweet, cool-leaning pink that makes me think of Barbies and cotton candy. Comparing it to another pink that tricked me, True Colors Pleasures, Artificial Sweetener is softer-looking and not as cool.

l’oreal colour riche in violet vixen

L’Oreal Colour Riche Violet Vixen • Sinful Colors Snow Me White • Mash-24

Awkward note: My nails grow out really fast; I took this photo 4-5 days after actually doing it, so the gap between the polish and my cuticles is rather large :x

I ordered the MASH 2012 nail stamping set (inexplicably no longer listed on Amazon, but is available on eBay) back in December but I haven’t actually tried any of the plates until now! The design smudged a bit on my ring finger after applying Seche Vite top coat but I’m rather happy with how it turned out. It has a home decor vibe to it; I want a pillow or something in this print, haha. I would definitely stamp this again on top of a green or blue for a fresh spring look.

Violet Vixen is a very red-leaning violet or berry. The brush on this polish takes some getting used to: it’s not as dense as other nail polish brushes → doesn’t hold a lot of polish in the brush → wiping the brush against the bottle sides tends to be an unnecessary step.

I tried using Sinful Colors Snow Me White on my right hand (shown) for stamping this time rather than Konad White. The Konad White Special Polish results in a brighter, bolder white, but I think the thick, goopiness of it makes it more prone to smudging when applying your top coat. I don’t think it is a huge difference unless you’re comparing the two side-by-side, so the Sinful Colors works pretty well if you don’t want to get the Konad White.

Konad plate m84

Today’s nail post is a little different from usual. Recently I was sent a Konad plate, courtesy of Nail Polish Canada, to try. Since m84 is one of the newest plates from Konad, I thought I should give the full lowdown on this uber-girly stamp plate.

m84 is a pretty versatile plate of 8 designs: 1 full-nail stars design, 4 florals (roses, lilies, and lotuses), 1 bow with hearts, and 1 lip print.

Check out the composite below, with each design stamped on my nails (using China Glaze First Mate as base and Orly Dazzle for stamping)

China Glaze First Mate is such a lovely navy polish; can you believe I’m only wearing one coat in these pictures?

gold paisley(ish) konad

Rimmel English Rose • Orly Luxe • Konad image plate m60

This isn’t the greatest picture, but I really loved how this one turned out. I stamped the design on my nails at different angles/using different parts of the design since I like a little irregularity in my nail art :>

a field of daisies

Orly Ancient Jade • Konad white polish • Konad image plate m26 • Orly Spark

I only decided to dot the centers of the flowers at the last minute; if I do this design again I think I’d want a yellow Orly Spark accent nail :>

peachy breeze + Konad floral pattern

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Peachy Breeze • Konad white polish • Konad image plate m20

I really like this polish: it’s a really fun, bright coral that’s perfect for the beach. Insta-Dri polishes have a somewhat thick formula that takes getting used to, but can be opaque with just one coat. I’ve been wearing it for 4 days with no chips or tipwear. You can see that the flowers got a little smudged when I was applying the top coat though T__T
