How difficult it is to “hit the pan” (i.e. use up enough product to see the pan at the bottom of the product) depends a lot on how extensive your makeup collection is: you definitely hit the pan a lot sooner on a product if you only have 3 or 4 blushes to choose from in the morning (like me) than 8 or 9 My collection is certainly much smaller than many makeup lovers out there, so it’s no surprise that I’ve already hit that midpoint on a lot of things.
Some favourites I’ve hit pan on:
- Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Face Powder in Highlighter (pictured left)
- Marcelle Velvety Powder Blush in Just Blush
- NYC Color Wheel Mosaic blush in Rose Glow
These aren’t pressed palettes that you can hit pan on, but I’ve almost/completely used them up or worn them down to nubs:
- Marcelle Face Powder in Translucent (this thing is huge so it’s quite an achievement in my opinion)
- Wet n Wild Arch Envy Color & Set in Brunette
- Quo 3 in 1 Brow Pencil in Dark
- Rimmel Style & Shine clear mascara
- CoverGirl LashBlast mascara
What kind of products have you loved enough to hit pan on?

It didn’t feel like so long ago when I fell in love at first whiff with the bright and clean warmth of Fresh Sugar Lychee fragrance. It was one of my first Wishlist Wednesdays. For months, I spritzed it on every time I visited Sephora. I even played around with a rollerball before returning it because it couldn’t compare to the scent of the eau de parfum.
Okay, I admit that with all the new and exciting makeup coming out all the time, I might have forgotten about it for a little bit. But during my trip to the States I visited a Sephora and saw it on the shelf and decided to buy it—after a little spritz, that is. I let it dry down. I smelled my wrist, paused, then held it out for Jenelle. She leaned in to smell and we looked at each other.
Oh.
It doesn’t smell the same. What used to smell fresh and citrusy and effortless on me just wasn’t right anymore.
Goodbye, Fresh Sugar Lychee. It feels like the end of an era :<

Recently, I showed the blog to a friend who liked it but asked, “why is it called DO WANT makeup?”
I’d been thinking about making a post to explain this for a while because I’m not sure many people get the reference, and her question kind of cemented the idea.
Do want comes from do not want (often used in all caps DO NOT WANT), an internet meme that was spawned by a Chinese-subbed Star Wars Episode III. At the end of Episode III when Darth Vader screams noooooo!, it is translated in the English subtitles as

When Jenelle and I browse makeup sites and brands, we ooh and ahh and go “omg do want”, so that’s the second part of the story.
To be perfectly honest, DO WANT makeup was kind of a temporary name for my blog until I could think of something more witty or catchy. I couldn’t think of anything else but I just wanted to get started. I know there are some problems with this name: not everybody is going to “get” it and it’s pretty difficult to search it on Google because the words are very common. But now that it’s been a couple months, the name has kind of grown on me and I don’t know if I want to change it.

Andy’s sister is currently studying makeup artistry at Blanche Macdonald here in Vancouver and asked me to be a model for her makeup effects exam back in July. If you’ve ever wondered what I would look like if I was rotting and decaying, your questions will be answered today.

Mummies want to know how to supersize his orgasm, too.

My entire body was bandaged up, and part of my shoulder, ribs, and a foot were painted over in addition to my face. Because the bandages wrapped tightly around me and we couldn’t rely on wigs or other hairpieces to cover my head, she took a lot of time gelling my hair to my head neatly to apply the baldcap; it took at least two hours to do just this part ._.
There were lots of really interesting and creative results from her classmates. One of my favourites was a guy done to resemble Wikus from District Nine turning prawn—half of his face and body was turning alien and ripping through his button-down shirt, and one of his hands was completely prawn and all claw-like/tentacley. He even had an MNU pass around his neck :3 I kind of wanted to take a picture with him but was too shy to ask.
Tina is really talented and most interested in this type of makeup. She hasn’t done beauty makeup in a while and wants to practice again, so I’ll post the results if it happens :D

So I’ve had quite a busy last two weeks. I had two family weddings to attend, plus acting as tour guide and chauffeur for my out-of-town relatives. I have a huge family so I’ve been running around everywhere meeting people, figuring out day trips, having family dinners, etc. Today feels like my first break in a while.
Here are some quick snaps I took in the past few weeks (descriptions belong to the image directly above it):

I haven’t really ventured too much into the world of nail polish although I do check out nail polish posts on other blogs and even follow All Lacquered Up.
Once in a while I’ll give it a shot but then I get frustrated because I totally blow at painting my nails. I feel so uncoordinated. Then I just take it all off with nail polish remover and give up. I guess that goes back to my perfectionism.
Maybe it’s due to the influence of these other bloggers and seeing their pretty nails but I’ve become more interested in playing with nail polish. I try not to get hung up on little mistakes like missing a corner of my nail anymore because I’ll be removing it in a few days anyway. I’m a much happier camper this way.

I was wearing this colour a week or two ago also and the beauty associate at Shoppers asked what polish I was wearing :3
Recommend any polishes for me?
